Call to Artists: “(Peek) Foliage”
October 9 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
To be exhibited October 9th – November 12th, 2016
The opening reception for this show will be held on Sunday, Oct. 9th, from 2:00-4:00pm as part of the Vermont Craft Council’s second Fall Open Studio Weekend.
Following the success of the summer “Lake Show” group exhibition, Stone Valley Arts at Fox Hill seeks submissions for its next community art exhibit. Artists are invited to submit work that addresses the theme of foliage. The term “foliage” often brings to mind the changing colors of autumn leaves, as well as the phenomenon of “Leaf-Peepers,” those people who come to view the picturesque spectacle.
While foliage is often considered something to look at from afar, it can also serve as a filtering or camouflaging device, something to look through. Foliage can be viewed both from outside and from within. Screens of foliage can function both to cloak and reveal subject matter.
Local artists are encouraged to submit photographs, drawings, paintings, sculptures, videos, or any visual objects that explore the aesthetics and/or the uses of foliage are encouraged. Original artwork created for this exhibit is especially welcome. Information on how to submit work can be found online at www.stonevalleyarts.org or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
(Peek) Foliage will be exhibited at Fox Hill, the c.1822 stone church and former Masonic Hall located across the street from the Poultney High School. Stone Valley Arts makes use of this historic space thanks to the generosity of its previous owners and the Preservation Trust of Vermont.
