IT’S HERE! MAPLEFEST 2017 IN POULTNEY, VERMONT!
Saturday, March 25th and Sunday, March 26th for the biggest, most active Maplefest in Poultney ever! Just look at the outline of events below, plan your day, get ready, set and GO!
Look for the light blue lawn signs around Poultney which show where events will be held!
Our FEATURED EVENT this year is the Maplefest Craft Fair at Poultney High School. Doors opens at 10 AM and ends at 4 PM . There has been an overwhelming response from quality vendors this year, including Lee’s Sap Buckets and Painted Items, Good Vibes Tie-Dye, Creating with Clay Kit, Buddy Bandanas, Gretiana’s Doll Clothes/Greeting Cards, Lisa’s Handmade Jewelry, Gayle’s Alpaca Farm, Mettowee Valley Maple, Brigham Family Maple, Pat’s World of Crafts, Gingersnap Crafts, Sue’s Jewelry, Laura’s Healthy Harvest, Jen’s Jewelry, Stan’s Metal Landscape and Moblie Art, Pierpoint Candle, Lilla Rose Hair Accessories, Olive and Ives, Joanne’s Jams and Crafts, Tying Up Loose Ends with repurposed garments, Art’s Wood Products, Wanda’s Crafts, Shannon’s Beaded Jewelry, Ann’s Folk Art and Ceramics, All Things Remembered, and Howard’s Jewelry.

The Maplefest Fun Run starts from the back of Poultney High School! Go to the Poultney Chamber Website at www.poultneyvt.com for a pre-registration form, or pick them up from downtown Poultney merchants. The more the merrier! This run is for everyone, including pets on a leash. Registration in person at 9 AM at the back of Poultney High School, race starts at 10 AM. T-shirts for the first 50 runners, sponsored by Donna Johnson Physical Therapy. Door prizes. Maple prizes for the first 3 places in each category.
Maple Prince and Princess! The winners will be crowned after the Official Tree Tapping at 10 AM, on the front lawn of Green Mountain College, with Green’s Sugarhouse handling the contests. Poultney’s own Maple Sugar Bear will officiate, and the winners will be given their own miniature Sugar Bears and maple prizes from Green’s Sugarhouse to take home. They will also have the opportunity to ride with Sugar Bear in an open convertible in the 4th of July Parade.
Maple Sugarhouse Tours on both Saturday and Sunday, at Green’s Sugarhouse, Terry McCarron Maple, Marshall’s Maples, and the Wood Family Sugarhouse. Maps available at the Stonebridge.
Full Town Wide Maplefest 2017 celebration on Saturday starting at 8 AM
Stonebridge Visitors Center opens at 8 am, with maps to sugarhouses and event schedules. General information about the area will be available from the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce at www.poultneyvt.com
Pancake Breakfast with real maple syrup topping donated by Green’s Sugarhouse at the United Methodist Church, Main Street, hosted by the Slate Valley Community Ministry. 8 AM to 10 AM
Governor Phil Scott will be competing with Provost Tom Mauhs-Pugh of Green Mountain College – to see who can tap a tree faster – at 10 AM on Saturday, at Pollock Hall at GMC
Maplefest Bag Sales: get 20 to 25 percent off any non-sale items you can fit into the recyclable bags at Williams Hardware and The Original Vermont Store. Stores open starting at 8 AM. Bags donated by Williams Hardware.
Official tree tapping and crowning of the Maplefest Prince and Princess at 10 AM on the campus of Green Mountain College. Come see which contestant wins in the race to tap the tree!
Vermont Sweetwater Bottling Company of Poultney has products available around town.
Delicious maple food! Maple Fried Dough and other maple specialties from Pelletier’s Maple in front of Mel’s Place. Maple walnut pancakes at Tot’s Diner! With genuine Vermont maple syrup, of course. Perrys Main Street Eatery will have maple specialties.
Horse Drawn Wagon Rides through downtown Poultney starting at 10 AM, sponsored by the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce and the Poultney Downtown Revitalization Committee.
The Cooking with Maple event returns! Imagine a delicous maple dinner for just $5.00! Add 2 kids for just $10.00 total! Delicious fresh food direct from the GMC Cerridwen Farm and other local sources. And you get the recipes to take home, too! Pre-register with the form at www.poultneyvt.com or get a form from local merchants. Start time 10 AM.
Maplefest Craft Fair at Poultney High School from 10 AM to 3 PM, sponsored by the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce, headed by Trish Peschl of Bixby’s Fuel. Over 30 vendors! The PHS Class of 2022 will have a food concession in the lobby from 11 to 1, with chili, macaroni and cheese, soup, pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwiches, soda, water and treats! Organized by Jaime Millazzo of LeapFrog Nursery School. Come support your local high school along with the local vendors!
The Poultney Historical Society will have an exhibit, a speaker, and a maple video at the Bentley Meeting House from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The Nature Conservancy, based in Poultney, will have a display at the Bentley Meeting House, including native plants and ways to encourage them to grow.
Maple Story Time at the Poultney Public Library at 11 AM, including songs, crafts, and a special Maple snack, courtesy of the Librarian Rebecca Cook and the Poultney Library Staff. Lots of room in their new expanded facility!
Maplefest Basket Party at St. Raphael’s Parish Hall on East Main Street starts at 11 AM, with drawings starting at 1 PM, sponsored by the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce, organzied by President Jenn Miller. Soup and sandwiches available from the St. Raphael’s Catholic Women’s Club.
Poultney’s own Maple Sugar Bear will be circulating through the town. Have your picture taken with the Sugar Bear! He will help crown the Prince and Princess, and will also be giving out Sugar Maple Seeds throughout the day.
Maple Brew and Bar Food and other craft beers at Taps Tavern.
Maplefest Dinner at Young At Heart Senior Center in Poultney, Vermont, which is handicapped accessible. Dinner will include maple glazed ham, maple sweet potato mash, vegetable, beverage, and a choice of desserts including maple bread pudding. 4:30 PM to 7 PM
