The Poultney Rotary Club is part of a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace. The Rotary has established high school scholarships, and the Smile Club, a junior service organization, at both local schools to further these ethical standards. This group of business and professional leaders supports various community events including the annual Maple Fest celebration, the nearly famous Chili Cook-Off, and the annual Cabin Fever Dance. The Rotary Club also sponsors an annual bicycling weekend. See www.cyclingvermont.com for further information. The funds raised from these events are given back to the community through scholarships to college for graduating high school seniors, sponsors two boys for Vermont Boys State and two children to the Kehoe Conservation Camp on Lake Bomoseen. The Rotary also supports the Green Mountain College annual Halloween party for area children and donates to Pure Water for the World Inc., which provides pure water for needy families. The Poultney Rotary believes in and follows the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self". Contact Chapter President Richard Wright at DeBonis and Wright, PH: 287- 9110 for further information.
